The drinking water in Tewksbury comes from the Merrimack River. It is processed at the town's Water Treatment Plant on Merrimack Drive on the north side of town and then pumped throughout the community. The water treatment plant is manned 24 hours a day, though office hours are limited. The treatment plant capacity is 7 million gallons a day. If need be, it can combine with the Lowell and Andover water distribution systems.
