The state Ethics Commission is an independent state agency that enforces the Pennsylvania Public Official and Employees Ethics Act 170 of 1978, which is intended to prevent personal financial gain through public office. The local office, located in the Allstate Financial Building, houses the support and investigative staff for the Pittsburgh region. It does not offer public services. Forms for filing complaints or a statement of financial interest (for public officials) can be obtained and filed through the commission's website.
The Borough of Whitehall municipal complex is located about six miles from downtown Pittsburgh and holds the main administrative offices of Whitehall, as well as an outdoor basketball court, four outdoor tennis courts and a pavilion. The Borough of Whitehall's public works department is also located in the Municipal Complex. Other Whitehall municipal complex features include the public swimming pool and its adjacent plaza, the Whitehall Police Department and the Whitehall Public Library.
Upper St. Clair Public Works is a local government department with offices on McLaughlin Run Road, across from the township's three-hole golf course. The department is responsible for the management and supervision of all activities relating to streets and trash collection, including storm sewers, sanitary sewers, leaf waste collection, parks and facility maintenance, building maintenance and forestry. In addition, the department is on call for any emergency such as sewer backups, storm debris on streets, flooding, landslides and snow and ice efforts including salting and plowing. The department is also responsible for the implementation of snow and ice removal contracts and general road maintenance contracts with both PennDOT and the Upper St. Clair School District.
The Baldwin Borough building is located about six miles from downtown Pittsburgh. The building holds the main administrative offices of the Borough of Baldwin and a wooden stage area. Three ball fields, an outdoor tennis court, two outdoor basketball courts and a large wooden playground are adjacent to the building, as is the Baldwin Historical Society Log House. The fields are used for youth and adult sports leagues and the Baldwin-Whitehall Youth Football Association.
This location is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to renew driver's licenses, title registrations, handle related change of address needs, suspension requirement letters, insurance suspension letters, MVR reports (driving records), temporary plates and title transfers. Also offers notary services.
The Upper St. Clair Municipal Building houses a number of departments. Inside the building you can find the tax office, the school district's administrative office, the police department and the library.
Offices for Ross Township's Adminstrative staff are located in the Ross Township Municipal Center. The township manager handles day-to-day operations, while a nine-member Board of Commissioners governs the township. Board meetings are held the second and fourth Mondays of each month on the second floor of the center.
The Pennsylvania Municipal Service Company collects earned income tax, utility taxes and real estate tax. PAMS offers online services to make the tax collecting process as smooth as possible. PAMS, established in 1954, caters to individuals, businesses, municipalities and school districts.
State Sen. Matt Smith is a first-term Democrat who represents the 37th Senate District, which covers most of the South Hills of Pittsburgh. He was previously a three-term state representative in the 42nd District. Smith has a district office in Mt. Lebanon, which is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Located on West Prospect Avenue in Crafton, the Ingram Borough office building handles all of the day to day operations of the Fox Chapel schools, streets and other public venues. At this facility, the county employees look after the maintenance needs of Crafton Ingram, including snow removal, park maintenance and trash and recycling operations.
