Located in the heart of town, the city building houses several key departments including the City Clerk's office, Downtown Development Authority, Chamber of Commerce, Police Department, Treasurer's Department and the City Manager's office. The building was founded in 1963 and is open 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday.
Located inside the city building on Main Street, the Downtown Development Authority is a resource for bringing new businesses into downtown Clawson while helping the current downtown business sector grow and attract residents. The DDA offers a grant program for businesses looking to move into Clawson and it also assists businesses with building renovations.
In the summer of 2010 the DDA started a streetscape project downtown with a grant they received from the state. It added new street lights, bike racks, new trees and expanded parking areas. The DDA also organizes annual events for residents to reconnect with each other.
The Clawson Department of Public Works offices are located at 635 W. Elmwood across from City Park. The department provides many services to the city such as snow removal, road projects, yard waste and recycling, leaf pick-up in the fall and brush, log, and stump removal. The department is led by interim superintendent Doug Ballard.
