Residents can call the number from 7am to 5pm Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, for non-emergency government information and services.

Customer service representatives speak Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese and French and interpretation service is available for other languages.

Representatives are available to help residents find public facilities, file a complaint or service request, or learn how to sign up for a public hearing.

Rockville City Hall is a part of the Rockville City Government, which provides a range of services for residents, visitors and businesses. The city government operates finance, police, information and technology, public works, human resources, and recreation and parks departments. It oversees community programs and administration and offers youth and family services through a community services department. The Rockville City Government provides historic preservation, inspection, and planning and zoning services. The city government also offers affordable housing programs. Its public works department maintains a traffic and transportation division that plans, designs and operates roadways, bridges, sidewalks, bike paths, traffic signals and street lights. The Rockville City Government is responsible for the maintenance of several recreational and community facilities, including the Croydon Creek Nature Center, F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre, Climbing Gym and Glenview Mansion.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission was established when Congress passed the Energy Reorganization Act of 1974. The commission s regulatory activities focus on reactor safety oversight and reactor license renewal of existing plants, materials safety oversight and materials licensing for a variety of purposes and waste management of both high-level and low-level waste. A five-member commission heads the agency with the President of the United States designating one member to serve as chairman and official spokesperson. The commission is headquartered in Rockville, Md. with a number of offices throughout the United States. The agency also has onsite inspectors permanently stationed at each nuclear facility that it regulates.

The Montgomery County Council is the legislative branch of county government. It has nine members, all elected at the same time by the voters of Montgomery County to four-year terms. There are five council members elected by the voters of their respective districts, while four members are elected at-large by county voters. The county council s responsibilities are specified by the county charter and state law. Among the councils principal responsibilities are to appropriate money to fund the capital and operating budgets and set the local property tax rate and other local taxes; approve all land use plans that include the general plan, area master plans and sector plans prepared by the planning board; and act on zoning changes. The council has a regular meeting each Tuesday in Rockville, Md. The public is notified through the advance agenda and council report and the council s Web site.

Carver Educational Services Center is located on Hungerford Drive in Rockville. The center is home to the Board of Education and administrative offices, including the Office of the Superintendent for the Montgomery County Public School system. The MCPS has 200 schools that serve more than 144,000 students in the area. Historically, the building was home to George Washington Carver High School and Junior College from 1951 to 1960.
