Established in 2008, the San Mateo County Health System provides health support services for county residents. Its main divisions are Health Policy & Planning, Aging & Adult Services, Behavioral Health & Recovery Services, Community Health (which includes Agricultural Services, Environmental Health and Public Health), Correctional Health, Family Health, and the San Mateo Medical Center -- a 509-bed acute-care facility located next door at 222 W 39th Ave. The Health System also manages 15 satellite clinics, provides animal control services, performs health research and oversees the county's birth and death records.

This division of the county clerk's office handles voter registration, vote-counting, and other voting issues for the entire county. It's one of many places where you can pick up a mail-in voter registration form. It's also where you go if you want to run for office yourself; candidacy must be declared in person at the office.
