The Wichita Department of Finance coordinates the financial affairs of the city of Wichita, Kan. It also provides various internal services and supplies for the city s governmental departments. The office of the director of the department coordinates all accounting, external auditing, bookkeeping, billing, revenue collection and purchasing activities for the city. In addition, the director is tasked with supervising the preparation of the annual city budget and capital improvement plan, investment policies, debt management, retirement systems, special assessments, risk management and data processing. The department encompasses several divisions, including budget and research, the controller s office, economic development, risk management and safety, purchasing and the treasury.
