The tax collector is in charge of collecting taxes for the town of Old Lyme and distributing tax bills to residents.
The office is located on the first floor of Town Hall.
The assessor's office is responsible for setting values on all the real estate and personal property in town. Personal property includes vehicles, mobile homes that are not real estate, horses, ponies and thoroughbreds. According to the town's website, the assessor also "adjusts or removes motor vehicle taxes" when a vehicle is stolen, damaged, sold or moved to another state. The assessor also can give tax breaks and exemptions that are allowed by Connecticut state law.
