The central offices of the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson's police department are located in the Hastings Municipal Building on Maple Avenue. There are currently 18 active officers in the department, including chief of police, David Bloomer. The village owns eight cars (five of which are patrol cars). Their predominant mission is to maintain peace and order in the village, responding to approximately 5,500 requests for service every year. There is an officer available to handle emergencies at all times.

Southampton Village, which incorporated in 1894, traces its roots back to the settlement of Southampton in 1640. Village Hall houses the mayor's office, village administrator, tax receiver, treasurer and boardroom. The zoning board of appeals, board of architectural review and historic preservation, planning board, planning commission and board of trustees all meet here. Village Hall was completed in 1917, and the second and third floors have been unoccupied since 2002, when the village police department moved to Windmill Lane. Mark Epley serves as mayor.

The Town of Cortlandt was named after Philip van Cortlandt, one of General Washington's officers, and officially became a town on March 7, 1788. The Town Hall building served as Van Cortlandville elementary school for decades before it was purchased by the Town in November 1990. Town Hall was dedicated to the current Town Supervisor Linda Puglisi in 1992. The halls of the building are decorated with many commemorative plaques. There are also display cases of donated historical artificats from the Cortlandt area, as well as "then-and-now" photographs showing local buildings and the businesses that have occupied them. The Supervisor, Water, Engineering, Code Enforcement, Planning, Tax, Town Clerk, Comptroller, Assessor and Recreation offices are located in the building, along with the V. Nyberg Conference Room and Justice Court. The Court's entrance is through the middle court yard in the back.

Brighton Fire Department, founded in 1925, serves eastern Brighton and northwestern Pittsford in New York. It is staffed by more than 80 volunteers, including career firefighters, lieutenants, a district director, four public safety dispatchers, computer specialist and communications supervisor to maintain and provide 24-hour staffing. The department attends more than 2,000 calls each year dealing with fire suppression, rescue, medical emergencies and hazardous materials. Members of its explorer post are trained on fire equipment, attends fire calls and provides support for the Brighton Fire Department. It is headquartered in Rochester, N.Y.
