The American Legion is a government chartered organization that works to support veterans and community programs both locally and nationally. Originally founded by veterans returning home after WWI, the organization works in the best interests of veterans and service members, lobbying for support and benefits. Members receive a subscription to the monthly magazine, discounts, VA benefit assistance and additional benefits. Membership is open to honorably discharged veterans and those on active duty who have served in eligible war eras outlined on the website.
The Bailey's Crossroads Community Shelter serves the homeless of Bailey's Crossroads and Falls Church. It is operated through a partnership between Fairfax County and Volunteers of America Chesapeake. Bailey's Shelter is a dormitory-style 50-bed (36 male, 14 female) facility. During the coldest months, the shelter adds an additional 70 beds as part of its hypothermia prevention center. The shelter's staff includes an on-site housing locator, a community case manager and a medical outreach worker.
National Legal & Policy Center is a non-profit public policy watchdog group with headquarters in Falls Church. Its mission is to expose governmental and union corruption.

The Center for Health Environment & Justice is a grassroots environmental group geared toward helping at-risk communities that face chemical exposure from factories and big businesses. The organization was founded by an individual and not a government agency and has remained that way since its inception in 1978.
Falls Church Homeless Shelter is a community resource providing nightly respite from harsh weather to individuals without a place to stay; the shelter is operational from December 1 through March 31. The shelter can house 12 individuals at any one given time, with separate sleeping and showering facilities for women; each resident has access to a storage locker in addition to their bed, and can also reserve the bed for the following night. Residents who do not show up at the shelter on time forfeit their place to another homeless individual in need.
