Founded in 1985, the Mahwah Municipal Alliance is an organization of community volunteers and local police dedicated to helping the youth of Mahwah become great decision makers. The MMA offers outreach programs encouraging personal courage, physical and social development and general safety. Among the Alliance's programs are the  D.A.R.E., Junior Police Academy, Youth Leadership Academy, Youth Athletic, “Cyber Safety,” Community Policing, Holiday Toy Drives, Holiday Party and Red Ribbon Week initiatives.

Founded in 2000, Pony Power Therapies Inc. operates as a therapeutic riding and equine assisted activities center. Located in Mahwah, N.J., it offers therapeutic riding program that is beneficial to children and adults suffering from a range of cognitive, physical and emotional conditions. The center also conducts Hippotherapy, a treatment tool used by physical, occupational or speech therapists, that utilizes the movement of the horse as a treatment tool to promote functional outcomes. Its other programs and services are available in the categories of summer extended day program and traditional riding, to name a few.

This county-wide charity provides food for the hungry. With offices throughout Bergen County, the Center for Food Action forges relationships with needy individuals and families while providing them with a week's worth of food up to six times a year. In Ridgewood, the Emmanuel Baptist Church ABC holds a nonperishable food drive on the first Sunday of every month. A parishioner then delivers the items to the CFA office in Mahwah.
