The Humane Society of Macomb is a non-profit, private organization dedicated to caring for unwanted and abused animals in a humane manner. Rescued animals that are available for adoption can be visited Monday through Saturday. The shelter opened in 1967 and has been educating the public on how to properly care for animals ever since.

Disabled American Veterans Chapter 129, which is located on Dequindre Road, is also known as the Big Red Barn. The chapter is a member of the national Disabled American Veterans Association. The building is often rented out on the weekend for events and used on the weekdays for DAV and VFW meetings. Also, a bi-weekly flea market is held at the hall on Sundays and Tuesdays, from 7am to 3pm.

The Victor I. Rieck American Legion Post 351 serves veterans who served in World War I and II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, in Lebanon/Grenada, Operation Just Cause and Operation Desert Storm.
