Mount Saint Vincent Wellesley consists of two restirement centers run by the Sisters of Mercy, a Catholic organization based in Halifax. Marrillac Residence has 94 beds on four floors. Elizabeth Seton Residence has 84 room. There are libraries, chapels, activity rooms, a gym and more. Health care is provided, as are short-term post-operative stays and respite care.
The Wellesley Friendly Aid is a 501(c)(3) organization and a program of the Council on Aging. Its entirely donation-funded and volunteer run programs include English classes, emergency community aid, fuel assistance and medical equipment loans, among other programs.
The Wellesley Historical Society was founded in 1925 by a group of citizens who wanted to establish an organization that would collect, preserve and promote Wellesley's rich heritage. The society's headquarters, which are three blocks east of the Wellesley Hills MBTA commuter train station, now serve as the town's historical resource center. Situated next to the Wellesley Community Center, the society hosts open houses, an annual lecture series and other special events throughout the year. The building also houses a variety of objects from the area's early settlers and town founders.
Cans for Charity has a simple mission: to improve the world through small project-by-project fundraisers. The organization holds fundraisers to collect recyclable cans and bottles, then donates the money acquired to other charities, including Médecins Sans Frontières and The Salvation Army.
The New England Chapter, or Bay Street Branch, of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Center works to find a cure by raising funds through donations, events and partnerships. This foundation has been established with the mission to "advance the scientific understanding of autism" and to help those with this syndrome lead productive lives. The foundation provides grants to organizations performing research or serving the community through services, education or political advocacy on behalf of the autistic community.
