Founded in 1820, The Catholic Diocese of Charleston comprises the entire state of South Carolina with Charleston. Located in Charleston, S.C., it is one of the oldest Catholic dioceses in the United States. The dioceses operates 118 Catholic parishes and missions across the state, along with 32 Catholic schools comprising of 28 elementary schools, two diocesan high schools and two private catholic high schools. It manages various departments, including archives, catholic charities, campus ministry, counseling services, ethnic ministries, medical missions, stewardship and vocations, to name a few.
