the League The Worcester Animal Rescue League was founded in 1912 by a group of women determined to save overworked and abused farm horses. Almost a full century later, their love for animals and the struggle to rescue pets from abuse, neglect, and inhumane treatment continues. WARL is a private, non-profit organization and does not receive any county, state, or federal funding. Our facility relies heavily on the generosity of donors and volunteers. The Worcester Animal Rescue League has grown into the largest animal shelter in Central Massachusetts. The Worcester Animal Rescue League is a limited intake shelter, taking in pets only when enough kennel space is available. The professional staff at the Worcester Animal Rescue League performs temperament and medical evaluations on each pet before adoption. The Worcester Animal Rescue League does not believe in time or space limits for our adoptable pets, and uses every resource available to place each pet. Over 3500 cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies are successfully cared for each year. Abandoned animals with treatable yet expensive veterinary needs, that may have been humanely put to sleep in years past, are given a second chance by receiving the medical treatment they need and deserve.

The Precious Furs Pet Resort boarding facilities are open 7 days a week for pick-ups and drop-offs. However, there is a staff member who lives on site for your pet's protection as well as a state of the art security system with 24 video monitoring. The kennel is made up of 42 runs including the cold kennel. This area is intended for larger dogs that prefer to be in and out all day, these runs measure an amazing 75 feet long giving your pet ample room to exercise themselves during their stay with us. Each cold kennel run comes complete with a doggie cot with bedding, to keep them off the floor and a gravel exterior run for them to play. Both help to keep your pet happier and cleaner. Reservations need to be made early for this area as it is our most popular and books up very quickly. The downstairs runs are also intended for larger dogs and feature 25 foot long runs. These are fiberglass on the inside for added cleanliness and asphalt on the outside. This area is also fenced in for added security for those "Hairy & Houdini's" who just love to escape. The upstairs is for our smaller or older four legged friends. They boast 20 foot long fiberglass runs with vinyl flooring on the inside area. For our feline friends, we offer to you the cat room. The cat room is comprised of one, two and three-story kitty townhouses Two large windows offer plenty of visual interest.
