The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts is a nonprofit organization that offers a variety of health and wellness products and related services for individuals and businesses. The organization was established in 1988 between the merger of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts. It provides services to more than 3 million members throughout Massachusetts. The organization offers medical, health, pharmacy, vision, life and dental insurance coverage policies. Its health products are available under the HMO Blue, Blue Choice, HMO Blue New England, Access Blue and Managed Blue for Seniors coverage plans. The organization works in partnership with over 18,000 physicians and nearly 65 acute care hospitals. The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
