Founded in 1899, it is one of the oldest Christian business and professional mens association in the United States. The Gideons International has nearly 280,000 members. The association also provides online donation opportunities. It distributes Scriptures for students in grades five and above, prisoners, and police, fire, medical and military personnel. Its scriptures are placed in various locations, such as hotels, motels, hospitals, convalescent homes, medical offices and violence shelters.
