On June, 1966, Lee Martin and his wife, Margaret, opened Lee Paint Center in Chattanooga. Lee Paint Center brought Benjamin Moore paint to Chattanooga. The Benjamin Moore Paint Company had been manufacturing quality paint products since 1883. Lee had been in the paint industry for 11 years when the opportunity arose for him and Margaret to take this new venture. Lee was a native of Chattanooga, graduating from Chattanooga high School and the University of Chattanooga, after serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Margaret graduated from Chattanooga Central High School and was a full-time mother of four children when they took this leap of faith!!! Lee Paint Center is the oldest family-owned paint business in Chattanooga. After Lee and Margaret retired, their son, Kit, and daughter, Janie, continued to operate the business much like Lee and Margaret had for many years. It being a “family-owned and operated” business sets it apart from the big-box stores. When you walk into Lee Paint, you are greeted by trained professional who take pride in helping you. Each member of this dedicated team encourages you to explain your project and will advise and recommend the best procedure and products to complete your project. Lee Paint Center continues to sell a complete line of Benjamin Moore products, as well as Farrell Calhoun and Richards paint. We have two interior decorators on staff with combined experience of over 56 years!
