When Dempseys was founded in 1991 by Peter and Bernadette Burrell, it was a new step for a pair of accomplished professionals. Peter, Dempseys brewmaster, attended the Siebel Institute of Brewing and worked at Pearl Brewing Co. in San Antonio, Texas, before taking on brewmaster duties at Siebens River North Brewery in Chicago and Squatters Brewing Co. in Salt Lake City. Bernadettes background as a chef includes stints at renowned restaurants such as Chef Tells in Philadelphia, Spiaggia in Chicago, and Mustards Grill in Napa Valley. With their combined expertise and enthusiasm, Dempseys quickly won a devoted following among locals and visitors alike. Bernadette started Red Rooster Ranch in 1993 so that she could serve the freshest, hand-picked organic greens and vegetables to her customers. The restaurant expanded in 1994 and added seating on the outdoor patio, giving more diners the opportunity to enjoy the view of the Petaluma River and the walking bridge which links the restaurant with downtown. The restaurant is more than just the Burrells, however. Dempseys would not be Dempseys without its remarkable staff, most of whom have been with the restaurant for many years. Their casual but professional style of service is a key ingredient in setting the scene, where longtime staff and regular clientele combine to make everyone feel at home. They believe in good food, good beer, and good service what Dempseys is, explains Bernadette. Dempseys also plays an important role in the greater Petaluma community and supports local organizations like the Boys and Girls Club, the Carousel Fund, the Teaching Garden, Petaluma People Services Center COTS

Gale's Central Club has been in the same location since the early 1900's. This bar features beer on tap, shots, cocktails and more. In addition to serving drinks, Gale's Central Club offers a small menu of bar favorites including corn dogs, pizza, cheeseburgers and nuts.

Gale's also has two pool tables, an Adams Family pinball machine, a classic Pac Man video game and sometimes features live music on Thursday nights. Notable is the fact that, because of Gale's Central Club age, this bar is one of only a handful in Petaluma that is able to legally sell beer and liquor to go.
