The Scottish Rites is one of the two branches of Freemasonry. A Master may proceed after he has completed the three degrees of Symbolic or Blue Lodge Masonry. The Scottish Rites North Jurisdiction covers 15 states east of the Mississippi River including Rhode Island and Massachusetts. This lodge participates in community service projects and hosts numerous events throughout the year. The lodge is available for use by local community organizations.

The American Legion Department of Rhode Island is a post location for the American Legion, a nonprofit patriotic wartime veterans organization that was chartered in 1919. It is a community service organization that numbers nearly 3 million men and women in nearly 15,000 posts worldwide. These posts are organized into 55 departments that include one each for the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Mexico and the Philippines. The organization is responsible for many programs and events within communities throughout the United States, such as Legion College, educational aids, endowment funds, national emergency funds, library, museum, children and youth programs and temporary financial assistance. The American Legion Department of Rhode Island is headquartered in North Providence, R.I.

The American Mathematical Society offers programs and services that promote mathematical research and its uses, strengthen mathematical education and foster awareness and appreciation of mathematics and its connections to other disciplines and to everyday life. The Society has over 28,000 individual members and 550 institutional members in the United States and around the world. Programs and services for AMS members and the mathematical community include professional programs (such as meetings and conferences), publications (including journals, books, and the Mathematical Reviews -- a database of nearly 2 million items covering more than 60 years of mathematics literature), support for Young Scholars Programs and the Mathematical Moments program of the Public Awareness Office, resources such as MR Lookup for researchers and authors and a Washington office that connects the mathematical community with the broader scientific community and with decision makers who determine science funding. The society was founded in 1888.
