EMBARK Peekskill is a coalition of performing and literary artists and community members dedicated to the development of arts education and programming in the community. Founded in 1963, the National Maritime Historical Society has been educating the public about our nation's vast maritime heritage for more than 50 years. Its national headquarters can be found at 5 John Walsh Boulevard on the bottom floor of the same building that houses Crystal Bay Seafood & Company. Membership with this highly esteemed group includes a subscription to its quarterly journal Sea History, 10 percent discounts on all NMHS merchandise, an official NMHS membership card and opportunites to participate in cruises and other special programs. Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 21 is an association that represents plumbing and steamfitter contractors in Peekskill. Some of its services include membership, monthly meetings, training and education.
A brand new, state-of-the-art Peekskill Middle School was opened in 2009 on Ringgold Avenue. The school's approximately 600 students have access to Wi-Fi throughout the building. Each team has its own wing and every grade is assigned its own guidance counselor. The school also has a pool and passing the swimming test is a requirement for graduation. The school offers a Learning Enrichment Activities Program (LEAP) component as well, which encourages learning in a project environment.
Westchester Jewish Community Services is a non-profit organization that has been serving Southeastern New York since 1943. Its main headquarters can be found in White Plains, but its Peekskill branch is located in the New Crossroads Plaza. Adult services consist of home care, mental health and counseling services as well as abuse and violence prevention. Children's services include developmental needs and education support, among others. Special needs programs are also provided.
Elks Lodge is a fraternal order and social club providing various community services and programs. This organization offers scholarships, youth activities, drug awarenes programs, youth basketball programs and a variety of services for veterans.
