English Journal is a journal of ideas for English language arts teachers in junior and senior high schools and middle schools. The journal presents information on the teaching of writing and reading, literature and language. It examines the relationship of theory and research to classroom practice and reviews current materials of interest to English teachers, including books and electronic media. English Journal is published bimonthly and operates from Urbana, Ill. English Journal is a part of the National Council of Teachers of English that was founded in 1911. It provides advance teaching, research and student achievement in English language arts at all scholastic levels.

Founded in 1911, National Council of Teachers offers advance teaching, research and student achievement in English language arts at all scholastic levels and is located in Urbana, Ill. Its anti-censorship center offers advice, helpful documents and other support regarding literary works, films and videos, drama productions and teaching methods. Its writing initiative is a new public service campaign to support practices in the teaching of writing across all disciplines and increase policymakers and the publics knowledge about the teaching of writing. It offers a range of special programs to advance knowledge about critical education issues and to prepare teachers for classroom. It offers various grant programs by educational institutions, foundations and corporations.

Established in 1909 with but nine members, the American Oil Chemist s Association has grown to more than 5,400 members in 108 countries. It establishes standards of quality among professionals in the science and technology of fats, oils, surfactants and related material. AOCS s first book was published in 1918 and the first journal in 1924. USDA Regional Research Centers were established in 1938. Members A.J.P. Martin and R.L.M. Synge pioneered partition chromatography and went on to win the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1952. The first AOCS World Conference was held in 1976. AOCS offers several categories of membership that include individual, corporate and student members. Each year it presents awards to recognize the achievements of individuals in the field. A Governing Board and when this is not in session an Executive Committee that interprets and executes the policies of the Board, run AOCS. It has its headquarters in Champaign, Ill.
