Benihana was founded by a Japanese entrepreneur, Rocky H. Aoki, in 1964 in New York City. The restaurant is one of the leading Japanese-style steakhouses and maintains locations throughout the United States, Asia, Australia and Europe. Famous for its teppanyaki-style cooking, Benihana serves a variety of Japanese dishes, including sushi, yakisoba, noodles and beef julienne. It offers a range of salads, soups, appetizers, desserts, and lunch and dinner items. The restaurant s specialty dishes include lobsters, shrimp, and hibachi steaks and scallops. Benihana also serves a range of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, such as juices, smoothies, martinis and cocktails. In addition, it provides various types of greeting cards for special occasions. The restaurant conducts fundraising activities and supports nonprofit organizations.
