Founded in 1948, Arthritis Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that supports the more than 100 types of arthritis and related conditions. Based in Birmingham, Ala., it is a contributor to arthritis research in the world, funding more than $380 million in research grants. The firm provides an array of community-based services, such as self-help courses, water and land-based exercise classes, instructional videotapes, public forums, brochures and booklets, the national, bimonthly consumer magazine arthritis and continuing education courses and publications for health professionals.
