Founded in 1974, Pleiades Gallery is one of the oldest artist-run centers in the United States. It features abstract oil and contemporary paintings, pen and ink drawings, etchings, stone sculptures and digital images. The gallery also features contemporary figures and portraits and woodwall sculptures. It hosts the work of its artist members in individual and group shows. Pleiades Gallery also conducts photography, sculpture, printmaking, mixed-media and experimental work. It hosts dance performances and poetry competitions, as well as lectures and discussions on contemporary art. The gallery s members work in association with the New York Artists Equity Association and the National Association of Women Artists. It additionally participates in the events held by the Association of Artist Run Galleries.
