Founded in 1921, the Pacific Art League offers classes and summer camps for students of all ages. Print making, glass fusing, painting and photography are just a few examples of ways you can stretch your creativity. The league also has a gallery to exhibit artists' work, an art rental program and several membership options.
Housed in a former fire house on Monmouth Street, the non-profit Brookline Community Arts Center offers a wide range of community art classes for adults, children and families. The center also organizes rotating exhibits of local and internationally renowned artists.
Free and reduced-cost classes are available for elderly residents and low-income children.
Susan Navarre serves as the center's executive director.
"Excite Your Life" is the motto of the Greenwich Senior Center, and with a weekly schedule that includes exercise, games, language classes, arts and crafts, health forums, line dancing, concerts, daily luncheons and weekend day trips, the community center certainly provides a means to that end. It also offers a number of social services regarding housing, health and energy assistance.
A nutritious hot meal is served daily during the workweek, between noon and 1 pm. Lunch inside is $3, take out is $3.25, and reservations should be made before 1pm the prior day. There are transportation services to and from the center. Some 400 members participate in Greenwich Senior Center events every day.
In business for 40 years, The Music Emporium has been in Lexington for 15 years and is located in the shopping plaza on Massachusetts Avenue. This shop specializes in high-end, hand-crafted collectible and boutique instruments including guitars, banjos and mandolins. The store offers a wide assortment of products, along with classes and repair services. Among the many instrument vendors are Martin, Collings and Taylor.
