Pittsburgh Filmmakers/Pittsburgh Center for the Arts is committed to the artist and the advancement of artistic excellence in visual arts - specifically film, video, photography, digital media, and fine and creative arts and crafts; the provision of equipment and facilities for artists; the conduct of instructional programs; and the stimulation of public understanding and awareness through exhibitions, demonstrations, and sales. Pittsburgh Center for the Arts Founded in 1945, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts is a non-profit community arts campus that offers arts education programs and contemporary art exhibitions, providing services and resources for individual artists throughout Western Pennsylvania. The Center is where the community can create, see, support, and learn about visual arts. In January 2006, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts merged with Pittsburgh Filmmakers. Pittsburgh Filmmakers Founded in 1971, Pittsburgh Filmmakers is a nonprofit corporation designed to encourage the creation and understanding of media for noncommercial artistic and literary purposes. To this end, Filmmakers offers a curriculum of courses in film, video, and photography to university and independent students in the Pittsburgh region. Filmmakers also exhibits the work of prominent photographers and filmmakers in its two galleries, Melwood Screening Room, Regent Square Theater and Harris Theater. A key component of Filmmakers mission is to provide equipment access and funding for independent media artists. Kindermusik by Lynda was established in 1996. Its mission is to bring the joy of music to as many children ages 1 - 7 as possible. Classes utilize fun melodies and various instruments. There are seven locations throughout the North Hills area. Music programs are also offered to daycare centers. Free class tryouts are available to see if Kindermusik is a good fit for your child.

Cherry Court Studios is for children ages 10 and up who love to draw. Classes are small each student is mentored according to his/her unique personality, learning style and combination of talents.The Cherry Court curriculum is one of the few programs designed for the unique developmental needs of middle school. During the school year, classes meet once a week, 14 weeks per semester. Each class is 1 hour long. Classes for grades seven, eight, and nine are followed by an optional 45 minute open studio.To make the most progress, students should plan to attend at least two semesters and come to class regularly. Classes meet after school, evenings, and on Saturdays. In addition, workshops are available during the summer. One workshop provides the instructional hours of one-half semester.
