History of Donofro & Associates DONOFRO & ASSOCIATES ARCHITECTS has roots in Dothan, Alabama with combined experience of 62 years in Commercial, Residential, Municipal and Health Care Design. Donofro & Associates was the first firm to locate in Dothan in 1955, and under the leadership of Joseph L. Donofro impacted design in Southwest Georgia, Northwest Florida and South Alabama until his retirement in the late 1990s. Joseph R. Donofro is the president of Donofro & Associates oversees the Dothan and Mobile studios. Since graduating Auburn University in 1979 with a Bachelors in Architecture, Mr. Donofro has overseen many landmark projects in the Southeast. He serves as an officer in the Alabama Council AIA and was a charter member of the local AIA component. He has served as an officer or board member with Design Alabama, the Historic Preservation Commission, the Dothan Redevelopment Authority, and is a member of the Dothan Rotary Club. Projects include educational, municipal, commercial, healthcare, cultural, recreational, historic, industrial and residential within the States of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Donofro & Associates is currently in the process of a diversifying effort to reflect and celebrate the ever changing design and technogical environment which has swept the worlds markets.
