Winchester Fire/EMS provides fire protection and emergency medical services. Its training division develops, coordinates, delivers and manages training and education programs, including basic and advanced fire suppression tactics, fire service vehicle operations and technical rescue awareness. The department s emergency medical services division consists of more than 15 licensed paramedics and over 35 certified trainers. It operates various advanced life support ambulances and responds to more than 4,000 calls each year. Located in Winchester, Ky., the department also operates a preventive division that reviews fire protection and life safety system drawings and plans to ensure compliance with the applicable federal, state and local fire codes, standards and ordinances. Additionally, the department organizes several community education activities and station tours.
