Situated west of the UC Davis main campus (across Highway 113), this university-owned facility is both a transportation hub and flight instruction center.  Students, researchers, farmers, agricultural experts and others seeking access to the university campus either pilot or are passengers on small planes arriving and departing here.  Flight students appreciate University Airport's old-fashioned, out-of-the way atmosphere  (in contrast with the crowded taxiways and airspace found at nearby airports), in which they can practice without distraction.

The Oceanside Municipal Airport is owned by the City of Oceanside, but it is operated by Airport Property Ventures, a Los Angeles based company. It is located in the valley between the ocean and the mountains so it makes it a popular spot for business planes and private crafts that travel to the San Diego area for holiday. Pilots need to read the City of Oceanside web page for detailed instructions on how to access this airport because it is an unmanned facility with no control tower. Because of its location, pilots need to be alerted of the restricted airspace over Camp Pendleton, a United States Marines base. The airport offers overnight tie-downs, fuel and parking. There are vending machines for sodas, coffee and snacks.
