The Lutheran Social Services of Michigan (LSSM), formerly known as the Lutheran Inner Mission League of Greater Detroit, is one of the largest faith-based, nonprofit, human service organizations in Michigan. Established in 1934, it offers a range of foster care, adoption, subsidized housing, nursing and community support services for homeless individuals and refugees, as well as individuals with developmental disabilities. The Lutheran Social Services of Michigan s community support services include medication assistance, personal care, light housekeeping, meal assistance, transportation, shopping, and social and recreational activities. Its children and families services feature adoption, foster care and independent living. The organization operates various nursing facilities, retirement communities and senior apartment complexes. It also provides in-home staff support, case management, behavioral management and therapy services.
