The Otter Tail County Human Services Department provides a range of financial and social services to families and individuals. Its general assistance program provides monthly cash assistance to people who can not work due to disabilities or illnesses. The department offers a medical assistance program that pays for medical care of low-income individuals below the age of 21 and above the age of 65. Its emergency general assistance program provides help to people who are without children and who are in a crisis situation, such as fire, flood, eviction or utility shutoffs. Additionally, the department offers child protection assessment, adoption, case management, information and referral and volunteer transportation services.
