The University of California operates JGI Production Genomics Facility for the U.S. Department of Energy. The U.S. Department of Energy Joint Genome Institute (DOE JGI) was created in 1997 to unite the expertise and resources in DNA sequencing, informatics, and technology development found at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) genome centers. The Institute (JGI) integrates the genomic capabilities of six partner institutions, including Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
