The Jefferson Regional Medical Center is a nonprofit, private 470-plus-bed hospital. It offers primary care, as well as specialty medical services. The center provides services in the areas of pediatrics, occupational health, general surgery, gynecology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, podiatry, urology, and critical and nursing care. The Jefferson Regional Medical Center operates the Area Health Education Center, which offers residency training programs for family physicians.
