Otoño Silva, MD, founder of Interventional Orthopedics of Washington in Bellevue, Washington, is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Following this, he completed a specialized fellowship in Interventional Orthopedics with a focus on regenerative therapies, including prolotherapy, PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and Stem Cell Therapy for orthopedic/musculoskeletal applications. He has a passion for professional development, continued education, teaching, research, and developing a partnership with his patients to work towards their optimal health with an integrative approach. Before his formal medical training, Dr. Silva earned a bachelor of science degree in nutrition and trained and worked as a massage therapist. This training, along with a personal regenerative medicine treatment experience changed his life and inspired him to enter the medical field. His skills as a body worker have enhanced his hands-on physical exam skills as a physiatrist and interventional orthopedic specialist. In addition, this has taught and enabled him to incorporate a holistic approach for patient care into his practice. As a part of this holistic approach he utilizes IMS / dry needling for diagnostic purposes and pain relief for patients, appropriately refers his patients for chiropractic care, physical therapy, nutritional planning and hormone balance as needed to comprehensively address their health and well-being.
