The Hillsborough Department of Aging Services mission is to provide essential social and health services to the elderly; promote social, physical, economic and emotional well being; to encourage maximum independence; and improve the quality of life for seniors and their caregivers. The department provides a variety of programs and services, such as Alzheimers disease initiative programs, assisted living, community care, elder helpline, in-home services, retired and senior volunteer program, senior adult day care program, nutrition and activity program and a respite care program. Senior centers provides opportunities for persons age 60 and older to participate in a variety of activities, such as computer training, blood pressure checks, fitness training, arts and crafts, field trips, support groups and congregate noon meals.
