Highland Hospital is a mental health center that has been providing treatment for emotional and psychiatric problems since 1955. It provides various counseling, education and medication services for meeting health needs, and promoting physical, social, emotional and intellectual well-being of the people of West Virginia. It additionally offers inpatient psychiatric care for geriatric, chemically dependent, medically fragile and general psychiatric patients. Its staff includes board-certified psychiatrists and psychologists, registered nurses and dieticians, certified addiction counselors, licensed therapists, therapeutic recreation specialists, art therapists, licensed practical nurses, social workers and family counselors. Located in Charleston, W.Va., Highland Hospital is approved by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of HealthCare Organizations.
