For The Child, also known as FTC, provides child abuse treatment, family-focused mental health care and counseling services. Incorporated in 1996, the organization was formed as a result of a merger between Cedar House and Sarah Center, which specialized in child abuse care services. For The Child offers the Parent Child Interaction Therapy program, which serves children between the ages of 2 and 8 with behavioral problems. It conducts parenting classes, as well as offers abuse prevention education services through elementary and middle schools. The organization provides in-home case management and treatment services. It operates a specially quipped Winnebago motor home to provide counseling and psychological therapy to children in school campuses. For The Child maintains a location in Long Beach, Calif.
