Established in 1976, Terraset Elementary School is a learning center that serves more than 380 students in kindergarten through grade six. The school is governed by Fairfax County Public Schools, which serves over 164,840 students through nearly 230 elementary, middle and high schools and alternative learning and special education centers. It provides English for Speakers of Other Languages and special and gifted and talented education programs. Terraset Elementary School operates a parent-teacher association that sponsors several after-school activities, such as tennis, basketball, and LEGO and chess clubs. The school also broadcasts a student-organized daily morning television show. Its guidance division provides academic and curriculum-related guidance.
