Anchorage, Inc. has been building fine boats since 1930, when Bill Dyer founded the company. One of the first boats to be built as the 10 Dyer Dink, a wooden lapstrake dinghy. It was followed, in the early 1940s, by a plywood version of the 9 Dyer Dhow The first fiberglass version of the Dhow was built in 1949, making it the oldest, continuously-built fiberglass boat. The 9 Dhow was followed by the 711" Dyer Dhow Midget and the 12 1/2 Dyer Dhow. The company also builds the 16 Dyer Glamour Girl, the Dyer 29 and Dyer 40 classic motorboats.
