In 1970 Jerry Maddock, a Royal Oak, Michigan native, worked for his father in hydraulic and lubrication spray applications. As the early seventies were a make or break time for this technology, Maddock found himself more interested in fluids themselves then a singular process of applying them. Jerry moved on to become a certified tribologist, joining The Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers, working is way to president of the association.
