With more than 130 locations in the state, Luby s cafeteria serves millions of hungry Texans each year. This is reflected in the company s advertising slogan: Tastes Like Texas, Feels Like Home. With its first cafeteria opening in 1947, Lubys went on to spread throughout Texas, focusing on large markets, such as Houston, San Antonio and El Paso. It has since expanded to Tennesse, Arkansas, Florida, Mississippi and Arizona. Luby s had its initial public offering on February 22, 1982, and its shares still trade on the New York Stock Exchange. Lubys maintains its headquarters in Houston. The company employs more than 7,400 people.
