Oakland Cemetery was formed in 1848 after George N. Briggs purchased a plot of land off Cranston Street from Elizabeth Jenkes.Highlights of this cemetery include a granite mausoleum built in 1927 holding 1,200 burials, slate marble and sandstone gravestones and meticulously cared for grave sites with flowers, statues and candles.Most of the cemetery is accessible by car.
