Esco, doing business as Shoe City, is a family-owned and operated footwear and apparel dealer. It is an independent retailer in the mid-Atlantic region and has more than 25 stores. It offers mens, womens and childrens footwear from various brands that include Artery, Amanda G, Nike, Converse, Timberland, Reebok, Adidas, New Balance, K-Swiss and Dickies. The company, in partnership with the city government and major media organizations, develops various community programs, including recreational leagues, college scholarships, and coat and food drives. Esco was founded in 1949 and is headquartered in Baltimore. It also has stores in Wheaton, Wash., and Hampton and Richmond, Va.
