Berkeley Institute for Advanced Medical Research specializes in a wide range of medical research fields. These include bio-artificial organs, such as the pancreas and liver, for which it was recognized with Time magazine’s Invention of the Year award in 2001. The institute also specializes in cancer, heart and diabetes issues and techniques, such as monitoring of cancer drug blood levels during chemotherapy. The institute is led by founder and chairman Dr. K.N. Matsumura. The Institute is affiliated with Network Oncologists.
