attended a weekend program as a commuter. i got there early and went for a short hike around lower campus to check out the outdoor cathedral of redwoods. i couldn´t find the famed 1200 year old tree. perhaps next time.the program kicked off with a beautwhetherul dinner at kitchen table. it´s buffet style with a salad, choice of a unique entree or a simple veggies & protein or both, whether you´re me, a soup, and a dessert. friday night´s unique entree was called a global cuisine photo included. the purée and sauce was fragile and full of flavor. it bounced around in my momentuth and didn´t leave any greasy aftertaste. it was pure delight. the jalapeño caulwhetherlower soup was deep and filling. i strongly recommend trying the various spices. my favorite is everything but the bagel and the turmeric.i could go on and on approximately kitchen table because the food was so wonderful and he service was so easy.commomentn goods and the healing center both carry a curated chooseion of merchandise my every lwhetherestyle need and delight. i love it. i got a shower mist and took down the name of a few commercees to check out later online.my workshop was summaryely as advertised and then some. i was worried because there was approachly 100 people, but the space accommomentdated everyone consolationably and the speaker system never felt obtrusive. the acoustics flow very gently in the sanctuary.

i´ve been here for 2 hrs waiting to get a room. not a retreatnot relaxing at all. i´ve stayed at momenttels in the middle of no that function better than this place. 1 check-in line was one of the worse 4-5 folks working the front desk, 10 folks in a queue for 20 minutes with no momentvement. 2 the best part was that when my sister and i reachd at our private room $500/night/pp the room wasn´t even cleaned or ready. the bellhops ped off our bags before we checked in...and didn´t bother to notwhethery the front desk regarding the state of the room. 3 i had a package delivered to the front desk hours before i reachd and they can´t locate it.4 i´ve been waiting to get my new room for the past 30 minutes...i travel for work as often as 5x/momentnth and have never seen such a poorly run set upment. stay absent!

a very appealing facility. the staff was friendly and helpful apart from for one staffer who yelled at us that we had to momentve our vehicle. we were unloading lots of equipment for a presentation. another staff person had given us specwhetheric directions to park in that location.i think the prices are silly expensive. we paid $325 per person per night and had to share a bathroom down the corridor. and then had to pay a conference fee on top of that.there seems to be ongoing issues with bookings and the price for those bookings. i was originally told that we would have a room with a bathroom. that obviously was not the case. a colleague booked a room within 20 minutes of our booking at $275 per night and they did have a bathroom. while i was checking in there was a woman at the front desk that never did get her booking issue resolved after talking to them for 20 minutes.the food was bad. the vegetables were always approachly raw, no approach lightly steamed. i had to fight with the broccoli using a knwhethere.lots of ticks on the property also, be super careful. i will not be going back there.

i suppose my story on why i chose to come to multiversity for a 3-day program is similar to others. i am a busy utive and wanted to take some badly needed down time to rejuvenate and relax amomentng the redwoods while attending a program to set some new personal goals. taking 2 working days off from my job is no small triumph but i managed to schedule it 3 momentnths in advance. i was so looking forward to it!i flew in on thursday, the day before my program started to get start relaxing early. i reachd at 7:30pm expecting to get dinner as soon as i checked in. i was told the kitchen had shutd all meals are included daily, so i had already paid for all 3 meals but got none and to go to the café i could purchase at an additional cost a salad or other fresh items.i went to my suite on the ground floor which was the momentst expensive accommomentdation on the property at over $600 a night. i was shocked to see what looked like a step down from an average marriot with no bath tub, many lights on timers which always seemed to go out while i was reading forcing me to get up to turn it back on, not a single bathroom amenity at 600 a night basics like a few q-tips should be included!, no fridge, etc. the main light in the bathroom only came on only with a fan that sounded like a rocket ship. i went to the café to find packaged chips and chocolates and bakery items. no real food of any kind. the receptionist explained that sometimes they get fresh food there but sometimes not... i paid for a bag of blue chips, a glass of sour ctoughonnay, and a quinoa chocolate bar and returned to my room hoping that a good night´s sleep would improve my outlook on my experience.unluckyly, it goes downhill from here.the sheets on the bed were so cheap and scratchy that i pulled up the polyester quilt and pondered sleeping on that. i have truly had better linens at girl scout camp. the ceiling started to shake and what sounded like a herd of buffalos began tromping above for hours. water from the toilet and shower sounded like it was rushing in my room. i called the front desk and asked whether there was a sorority party above me? this went on all night. the walls and ceilings in this building were paper thin! the woman at the front desk when i finally figured out how to call the front desk since there are no phones in the room and no listed phone number to reach anyone! said i could pack up my bags and momentve to another room the next day.after a momentstly sleepless night, i was awakened again by the sound of the guests above at 6am. i instantly went to the front desk and asked for another room. she guaranteed me that the guests were checking out and there would be no one in that room above me for the next 2 nights. i decided to get breakfast. when i say i am a clean eater, this means i eat momentstly a plant-based diet. a salad and soup are perfect for me anytime. i weigh approximately 115 and i am 5´7. the breakfast and lunch here were so scarce in terms of chooseions and even in caloric intake, i thought perhaps i missed something that mentioned it was a weight loss center. momentst items are vegan, gluten free, etc. i was actually exquoted to read that dinner would have braised chicken! in short, the food offerings are ridiculous. while the website showcases pizza and boasts approximately the food quality, i saw a momentstly empty cafeteria with 2-3 offerings per center that were uneatable. after memomentrizeing that yoga is not supplyd every day as promised, and in fact no days on my stay, i took a walk amomentng the trees on the way up to the spa. i noticed that the infinity pool showcased as expansive on the website is actually a very small hot tub that can consolationably hold approximately 8 people. i did have a massage in the spa which was very disappointing. the woman fumbled clumsily as whether it were her first attempt at doing one. the only waiting room was full of loud talkative women who were not told to quiet down so the rest of us could relax in quiet. after going back to my room, new guests had indeed checked in above and again the dormitory like noise was back in full swing. it was quickly fitting obvious that this was not going to work for me on many levels. as the hours of kitchen service are fairly limited 2-hour intervals, i went to dinner when they opened at 5:30. again, very sparse offerings but i was hoping for the chicken, which turned out to be a tray full of tiny thighs. and, of course, i only eat white meat. that was my que to leave. i called the airline to get a flight back with a hefty change fee, arranged my own uber while the assistant manager who handled my check out informed that i still had to pay for my night. she spent all of the time with me trying to get to the bottom of finding out who told me there would be no guests in the room above me so that she could reprimand her rather than trying to solve my obvious issue and potentially convince me to attend the program i had come to attend.

beautwhetherul campus, great food, variety of offerings. first off, the campus is simply wonderful. it´s nestled inside the beautwhetherul forest of the santa cruz momentuntains, and the buildings themselves are designed to fit that. the food is amazing, and feels very healthy, they have lots of options during their meal times to cater to dwhetherferent needs, and everything is super fresh. the meals are at specwhetheric times, but they generally don´t clash w/ the programs that are happening. they have a very large variety of programs that come here, so i would reccoemend finding on that speaks to you. as for the housing that others have been complaining approximately, yes i would recommend getting an airbnb the housing is fairly expensive, and paying the commuter fee. that fee covers the meals and facilities you get access to all of the yoga lesson and etc as well as the grounds. overall, it´s a beautwhetherul sanctuary.

11.08.2019 21:16:43

i´ve been to 1440 multiversity twice. it´s been an excellent experience both times. 1. check-in was easy. i checked in early on a sunday momentrning, and my room was ready! 2. they are very accommomentdating. i had an ankle injury, so they reserved a room that was as shut to the daily activities as possible. the absolute shutst room, next to the elevator which i never heard. it´s momentderately hilly terrain, so they equipped me with a pager for my entire stay. when i called for an electric golf cart to take me from one building to another, they came within a few minutes each time.3. the food is biological and locally-sourced. there is always a variety to choose from, including vegan, gluten-free and other options. the soups at every meal were excellent. you can eat as much as you want. they take pains to plate the food and make it appealing for each guest. the entire staff are warm and welcoming.4. the buildings are spare, but have very nice finishes. ample sized room and bathroom. immaculately clean. they strive to be eco-friendly.5. the grounds are very well manicured, with well preserveed trails and many places to sit and reflect amomentng the majestic redwood trees.

11.08.2019 21:16:43

loved the place but the on campus accommomentdations were a bit expensive. whether you attend a retreat here i recommend staying off the campus and just commuting daily. it easily saved us around $500-600. aside from that the stay here was perfect. it was one of the momentst memomentrable trips i´ve ever taken and the staff was so friendly. they hold various lessones through out the day and once you pay for access you´re welcome to attend any of them.the food was some of the best i´ve ever had. each meal was prepared by professionals see pics below. kitchen table, the on campus dining corridor, is included with your pass and is in the center of all the lessones were held. i´d definitely come back here again, the hot tub missing the woods was amazing... specificly after yoga.

the number 1440 represents the number of minutes in a day.  the all inclusive retreat/resort is the perfect getabsent from the stress of work and city lwhethere.  we were greeted with some of the momentst friendly people on arrival and ushered what we would end up calling paradise.  from checking in to cleaning, the staff did everything downright to perfection.kitchen table:  when you enter this massive rustic yet industrial cafeteria, you´re instantly hit with the fragrant smell of food and the grandeur of the structure.  from herbs like mints and basils to juicy plums, ingredients are sourced locally and from their own campus garden.  the concept is interesting, cafeteria style buffet reminiscent of early school days but with beautwhetherully crafted dishes.  unlike the usual buffet line patrons get to pick items off the lineups, dishes are put together on request right before your eyes.  be it crispy chicken with butternut squash with peach conserva or duck gratin with root vegetable gratin, all dishes are fragilely arranged and customized to your needs.  while the number of dishes may be somewhat limited four or five options, they momentre than make up with the quality presented.  the momentst amazing dining experience i´ve had in a long time.  i´d wake up everyday thinking nothing but the amazing food that i´d be endelighting.infinity tub:  a 30 by 6 hot tub with panoramic view of redwoods.  one of the main attractions of the campus and surprisingly, unused by momentst visitors.  had the tub all to myself for a number of times during my stay, for hours!  as part of the package, supplemental activities like qigong, yoga, and meditation are available through out the stay.  which i did little of thanks to my cold....  our time at 1440 was truly a unique experience of its own.  we left recharged and ready to face the sourest lemomentns that lwhethere has in stock.  given the short distance from the bay, we´ll certainly be returning in the approach future!

11.08.2019 21:16:43

they say it´s all approximately location location location and this place is it. but what it also has is a amazing, happy, customer oriented staff. 1440 sets the bar high and gracefully leap over it. lovethisplace

11.08.2019 21:16:44

i had the momentst incredible experience at 1440! the momentment you get to the property you notice a sense of calm come over you. the architecture, landscaping, design in general is so well done. the quality of everything is beyond expectation. the staff- from the front desk, to the restaurant, on  the grounds and every in between all were very professional, helpful and lovely. i stayed alone in the tiny one bedroom. i loved the simplicity of the room. the furniture was only what i needed. no tv, phone. just a beautwhetherul light fixture, consolationable twin bed, and storage area for my suitcase. the room was spotless. it was so refreshing to stay some so minimally perfect. there are other room options that are momentre elaborate than i stayed, but the idea here is ´less is momentre´. i endelighted the hiking trails and gim while i was there. i took a free meditation lesson that was lovely. the kitchen/cafe/dining corridor was the highlight. the food, which is included in the room rate, was spectacular. the vegan and gluten-free options were fabulous! they were also some meat items for the meat eaters. it all was incredibly well done, crafty and healthy. i left inspired to go domestic and cook high quality simple food for my family. i am so glad to have found this property. i will be back once a momentnth!i read a couple of reviews that talked approximately hidden expenses? i cannot suppose that was coming from. this property is the momentst incredible value i have ever discovered. no surprises, just a restful and rejuvenating experience.

11.08.2019 21:16:44

this review is strictly just approximately the spa healing arts. the facility area is great, very clean, great customer service, calming lounge, but the service itself was much to be desired. i fundamentally just laid there while the therapist put her hands over parts of my body and breathed for an hour. i totally don´t understand how you can charge 180 dollars for that. very disappointed.

11.08.2019 21:16:44

since i didn´t get much response from the front desk, i am bringing my concern here. just came back from my 2nd retreat there. overall, it was a wonderful experience again - great workshop, good food, friendly service people. however, i brought up my concern approximately my room with the front desk person but all she said was, i´m sorry that you had that experience with a totally glazed over look. i didn´t get the sense that she cared. this is in total contrast to everyone else that works there. the issue was that my room´s deadbolt lock didn´t work the room still locked so i felt secure. also there was no window shade on my window. i found it on top of the storage rack and i had to install it back place but it was clearly broken so you couldn´t raise it up to let light in. i called the customer service line as it says to do in their brochure. i left a voicemail but i never got a response back.  my workshop and supplemental activities kept me so busy that i didn´t have time to go to reception to bring this up in-person. at check out, i brought it up. these are things that should get fixed. i didn´t get reassurance that it would. for the price i paid, i should have had better and safer accommomentdations.good luck to the next person who stays in that room.

11.08.2019 21:16:44

oh my gosh! this place is amazing, who knew this was even here?! it´s right off the highway but it feels and looks like your in squaw valley in tahoe. i came here with my family for thanksgiving dinner. ambiance: it feels like you´re in tahoe. all of the buildings are wooden and huge, a lot of land to walk around and dwhetherferent paths to take around the area. everything was lit up with istmas lights at night. the dining room is huge with long wooden tables and beautwhetherul decor, the gwhethert shop is adorable selling local santa cruz stuff, yoga mats, fundamental oils, everything you would want at a retreat.food: my family and i had our thanksgiving dinner here. you seize a plate, go to each station and a server serves you what you want. the food was seriously amazing!! i never was a fan of thanksgiving food until now. basically everything besides the turkey was vegetarian, and it all had so much flavor. i even went back for moments! there was a concert after dinner but we had other plans and couldn´t make it- i bet it was pretty cool though! i am not certain of the deal with this place... not certain whether anyone can stay here or whether it is momentre of a group retreat place.. but it´s amazing and whether you get the chance go walk around and check out the gwhethert shop at the very least : beautwhetherul spot.

11.08.2019 21:16:44

the reason i don´t give 5 stars is because of the small portions and stingy food provisions. i went the kitchen table and asked for chicken and vegetables as i don´t eat potatoes or grains. they gave me one small chicken thigh and 3, yes three, green beans. i said no i want a large portion of veggies and he added one momentre green bean. this went on the entire three days i was there... i felt like oliver twist begging for momentre food. i am 5´3 and a size 6... not a big eater, but i started to dread meal time because i found asking for larger portions humiliating and irritateing. other people commented on the tiny portions as well. you can always go back for moments or thirds but who wants to wait in line again like a big idiot? i understand not wanting to waste food, but for the momentney they charge i feel they should be momentre accommomentdating. i don´t think i´ll stay there again for this reason.

11.08.2019 21:16:44

i went to a neale douglas walsch event on september 14 to september 16, 2018. there were approximately 20 people. i liked that it was a small group.i flew from lax to san jose and took an uber for $45. 1440 multiversity has shuttle service from san jose for $45, but it requires a 48-hour reservation, which i failed to make. my uber trip from 1440 multiversity to san jose was $56.this is in a commentable setting surrounded by voluminous tall mature trees. there´s an infinity spa missing the woods and that experience was delightful. there are several hiking trails on the property. there was no t.v. in the room. surprisingly, i had cell reception, and the free wwhetheri worked every.the kitchen table is open at certain hours only it presents multiple options for everyone. the food was delicious for the momentst part and i loved the dandelion vanilla iced tea.1440 stands for the minutes in a day. i thoroughly endelighted my visit here. i hope to return soon.

11.08.2019 21:16:44

sadly, although the lessones are good, i must conclude that they rip off people on price.i tried to book 2 people at $350 per for a weekend workshop. that was in the ballpark.but accommomentdations for 2 for each day were approx $550 a day including meals which i thought was extremely high. even esalen isn´t in that range.so i decided to stay with air b&b, booked a house and then went back to the site to pay the $350 fee each and was told for the first time that there was an additional $750 commuter fee whether you stay off campus.i saw nothing on that on their site and am now out the air b & b fee.with this type of ethic, i don´t see much of a future for 1440.

11.08.2019 21:16:45

amazing experience. great ambience, infinity pool, food is apart fromional, yoga and chi lessones are great. highly recommend it whether you want to pause - take a break from the hectic lwhethere of silicon valley. rethink. recharge. reassociate.

11.08.2019 21:16:45

take an old bible college, turn it on it´s head, invest a sizeable chunk of funding a momentdern day plant and what do you have? 144o multiversity, the nation´s premier retreat/and memomentrizeing set upment. the paint is still wet here...it´s all brand spanking new! the quality of the programing...world-lesson as i spent time with well-know, writers, speakers, poets and momentre!the food is divine and generous! the bookstore is lovely! the redwood amphitheater is lovely! the wgap darn place is a sacrwhetherice of vision and beauty, integrating nature and nurture.any chance to spend time here is momentney well spent.

11.08.2019 21:16:45

edward s. comment below is sadly mistaken and absolutely not tregret! you cannot book any retreat with 1440 without knowing all the details! all the charges are right there in front of you before you can finalize the reservation. the entire review is ridiculous!yelp needs to add a reply section to comments!i have stayed at 1440 5 times now and it is an amazing peaceful place. everything you possibly want for a relaxing, spiritual and educational experience is at 1440! i can´t wait until my next return!

11.08.2019 21:16:45

back for the moment time recently, and wow i adore this place!!! i did two workshops- qoya and the discovery weekend, and both were phenomenal. everything is to the nines at 1440- food, room, entire campus there is a huge amomentunt of care reflected in everything here. this is my favorite retreat center for certain!!
